Studying History Nov. 7th, 2004 @ 05:25 pm
Tests, tests, everywhere tests... I can't think of anything else anymore! I did have 3 exam-like tests this week. There was German on Wednesday, English on Thursday and Chemistry on Friday. Tuesday I had school until 5:30pm, then I tried studying for German. Wednesday I had school until 5:30 again, then I tried studying for english and on Thursday I did have school until 5:30pm, too, so I tried studying chemistry afterward. And right now I'm studying history because I'm taking a test on Tuesday. I didn't have time to study on Friday because I had dancing lessons, yesterday I really needed a day off and tomorrow I won't be able to because I have school, then I'll have to meet with a child i'm teaching and then I have spanish lessons. When ever am I supposed to study but now?
And not supprisingly, even now I don't get to it because certain people just come over and talk with me for nearly an hour even though they know perfectly well that I have to study! Why do they do that to me???
I have to read more than 20 pages of text but I', only on page two so far... Hey, I already know that there was a division between the clerus and the laities in the early 4th century A.D., so probably that's a good start. Now I only have to know everything there is to know about the investiture and about the fight the catholic church and the kings had about it. Great!

Home, Sweet Home Aug. 15th, 2004 @ 06:44 pm
I'm home again since June 30th and I didn't get to write anything. I'm very sorry about that. The last few weeks everything worked against my wish to write a few lines, I did have a lot to do, had to meet with friends who wanted to catch up with my and with whom I did want to catch up, too. Then I'm also looking for a job quite desperately because I want to get my driver's license soon. Getting a job, however, seems to be a nearly impossible thing to do. I gave up hope at least for this summer break, especially since it is almost over already. Now I only can hope for kids who want to get extra lessons in whatever subject I'm good at, there actually are quite a few, so maybe I'll find someone. I might get a student who's only in elementary school but has a lot of trouble there because he doesn't really speak German as good as he should after two years of being here. I'd have to teach him and also help him in school, I think. I'll talk with his mom as soon as she calls me. 43 days until I'm 18 78 days of summer break 22 days until school starts School starts soon, and I'm excited. More even than I was about my very long summer break. I'm very nervous too. I switched school not too long ago and this will be the first time ever that I'm going there. I'm nervous about my fellow student, about my teachers and subjects, about 12th grade, I'm excited because of the same things but I'm excited, too, because I'll never have to go to my old school again!

Sleeping is nice, being awake is better! Jun. 22nd, 2004 @ 09:05 am
After being awake for more than 24 hours yesterday I fell asleep at 5 in the afternoon and today I woke up at a normal hour. 6 o'clock in the morning ;) how great is that? Hopefully I can sleep tonight because I have to get up early tomorrow. We're going to Chicago :) There I'll hopefully meet with a friend and then we can go shopping or something. I like going shopping in Chicago! We're going to stay the night and then we'll go to a Whitesox game on Thursday. My First Baseball game ever! I'm excited ;) I have to call her now... Can I call someone at 9 o'clock in the morning? I guess I can... the advertisement people can!

How am I supposed to do that???

Jun. 20th, 2004 @ 09:52 pm
OMG, today I slept till 4:30 and I probably would have slept longer of my mother hadn't come to my door to wake me up for supper! I couldn't believe it. I've never ever slept that long in my life, well except for some times when I was sick, but I'm not sick right now! It took me some time to orientate myself. I though I might have taken a nap or something until I remembered that I haven't been awake today, yet.
4:30, that is 11:30 at night in Germany! How am I supposed to ever get back to German time? I don't even have a reason to get up in the morning when I'm back home. No school, no work, nothing! Luckily my mom made a few appointments for me at 9 in the morning, that should give me a reason to get up, hopefully I don't miss them.

My mum is organizing a party to welcome me back home *yay* This is going to be sooo much fun! I'm going to see all my friends and I'll have beer (hehe, I', not a drunk or something... but I haven't had any for a year!) and German food and... I just hope that I can still speak German?! Party is on Saturday after I get home. Sunday all my relatives come to visit and welcome me. I still have to write some postcards before I get home or else some of my grandparents and aunts and uncles will be disappointed or something. I dunno why but especially grandparents get jealous at each other if one gets a postcard and the other doesn't. Unfortunately I wrote a postcard to my one grandma but not to the other :oS

Mum goes to Munich in July and I might be able to go too. I love the city and I wish we still lived there. Well...Maybe I'll go to university there, I would love to, even though I'll be far away from home. well, not further than now...

Yesterday I read that a drivers license costs 1500 Euros (!). How am I ever supposed to get that much money? I'm totally broke and my parents already payed for my exchange year! Oh well, I will have to work and maybe ask my relatives to give me money for my b-day and christmas. And I'll have to find a job that pays me more because I don't plan on spending the next half year working!

I'll have to see if I can decide to donate more books to the library. Books are heavy and I only can take 140 pounds home without paying extra.

When I'm back home my mom and I have to go to the movies some time and then to the Bermudadreieck to hang out. We didn't do anything like this in a long time and I think it's high time! I'll let her chose the movie cause we have a very different taste and I want her to enjoy it. And I figure that since I've already seen many of the movies which I like in English I can just see one that she likes.
